Kendrick’s piece at the Beards & Brushes Facial Hair Art Show was so amazing and such a huge success that it deserves a post by itself. This was such a good idea and everybody loved it. Better late posting than never I guess. Sorry for the short absence. These events take a good week out of me after their done. Well after it’s all said and done, The Beards & Brushes Facial Hair Art Show was a huge success. I’m so happy with how it went down. It couldn’t have come together without the amazing artists who came out and entered their work in the show and the many many people that came out to support it. Oh and huge thanks to Jan and BroadBased Communications (the company I work for) for supplying the beer and wine. Seriously saved me. I’ll keep this post pretty short and let the photos speak for themselves. This is sure to be the largest collection of facial hair inspired art by Jacksonville artists including Sean Collins, Kendrick Kidd, Levi Ratliff, Chad Landenburger, Clay Doran, Varick Rosete and much much more!

In the dawn of the Beards and Brushes art show coming up, I’ve decided that I’m going to share some of the many hirsute art that I come across on the interwebs. I figured I’d start Beard Art Wednesdays! Sounds awesome, so here goes.
We’ll start off with a fantastic Lincoln/Bowie mashup by the amazing Frank Chimero.
Drawing by Marc Johns. Seriously spend some time looking at his work. This one is also one of my favorites.
I love this illustration by “the pear picker,” Bene Rohlmann.
Sweet painting by the amazingly talented Lisel Jane Ashlock.
And last but not least here is BlueBeard by Derek Sullivan. The illustration is based off the BlueBeard folklore. “It’s about a wife who discovers her new husband had murdered his seven previous spouses.”

It’s been slow the past couple of months but let’s get this club growing again!
We’ll be hosting our September Pub Night tonight at Steamworks in 5points at 9pm. Come enjoy some drinks and the fellowship of friendly bearded ladies (with fake beards and mustaches) and gentlemen. We have lots to go over about the future of the club so be sure to be there to join the discussion.

If you have a beard, a mustache, crazy sideburns, if not you can draw one or grow one very quickly. Boys and girls. Chicks with beards are cool too (fake beards that is!).
This is the second photo project and part of my A Slice of Florida: Photo Project.
Come out tonight, Friday 21st, and get your photo taken. I’ll have a portable studio set up and we’ll have some fun. Come show off your facial hair! Photos will be posted on Fotobia.com and some will be on display in upcoming art shows.
