And We’re Back!

Hey folks! It’s been a while since the club’s gotten together, but that’s all about to change! We’ve got a lot of great events planned and we’re starting off with a Pub Night. This time around we’re having it at Underbelly/Anomaly in 5 Points, tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. There well be drink specials for everyone with facial hair (real or fake) and we’ll have plenty to talk about so don’t be late. It’ll be a great time, so let’s get the gang back together, hopefully meet some new bearded friends & drink some beers!

Beards at RAM

Ok so I know this is old news but I really wanted to post it up on the blog. A while back after we got back from the National Beard and Mustache Championships, we were asked to put together a beard and mustache event at the Riverside Arts Market in honor of Tony Allegretti leaving the RAM committee. The event turned out really well, especially for such short notice that we had to put it together. We had a crafts table for kids to put together paper beards and mustaches and towards the end of the event, we had a beard and mustache contest! Burro Bags were awesome and provided all of the prizes for the contestants which included a tote, t-shirt and bandana! I want to thank those guys for doing such amazing work on that for us. So sorry about the delay on getting this out and enjoy some photos from the event! You can find more photos from Sarah’s flickr.

The National Beard and Mustache Championships

It’s been a long time but we’re back in action. I just got back from the National Beard and Mustache Championships in Bend, Oregon. It was a fantastic time filled with plenty of bearded fellowship and lots of drinks. You can check out some photos from the event below as well as here and here. It was a blast to check out and we’ll be definitely going to other bearded events across the country as well as picking our awesome club up to do more events as well.

More news on that later, but for now, come on out to compete in the Jacksonville Beard and Mustache Contest at RAM this Saturday! Movember Jax Party Recap!

Movember Jax Party! photo by Jensen Hande

Movember was such a successful event for the Jacksonville Beardsmith Society! It was a lot of fun and we raised a lot of money for a great cause. Here’s a recap: We made close to $170 in donations that night alone, bringing us to a grand total of $1,154! The contest was a lot of fun and I want to thank everyone for coming out and I especially want to congratulate Chad Landenberger for winning the Man of Movember award. He truly had the best Movember attitude and really supported the effort all month long. I also want to congratulate Kelly Macdonald for winning the Miss Movember award (Sarah got the award that night in honor of Kelly). Kelly helped the Jax Stache team so much by providing tons of product for our last bake sale during the Riverside Wine Festival.

At the party, we were privileged to have photographer Jensen Hande there taking portraits of Movember participants. I’ll post some of his photos below and you can also find some here. Thanks Jensen! Jax Beard owes you a couple of beers. So without further adieu, I present the Movember Jax party photos!

Update: I forgot to include the link to the photos that Sarah took. You can see the whole set here.
